The friends on “Friends” and why you’ll want them to be your friends

Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 9.54.27 AMIt’s pretty safe to say that Friends is one of the most famous television shows of all time, and rightfully so if I do say so myself. I got bored a few days ago and decided to start watching the series from start to finish, and I am so happy about it! I want you all to know the greatness of these six wackos who hang out in a New York coffee shop, so read on to find out what I think makes the show worthwhile: the characters themselves.

1.Rachel GreenScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.49.49 PM

Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) is beautiful, ditzy, and a little spoiled. She joins the friend group in the first episode after leaving her fiancé at the alter, and is forevermore irreplaceable. She goes through a lot romantically throughout the show, and her character development is by far the most impressive. Friends would not be complete without Rachel, and most girls I know secretly want to be her.

2. Ross Geller

Ross (David Schwimmer) is a paleontologist and won’t let anyone forget it (“Dr. Ross Geller!”) He is often the root of ridicule because of the several marriages he’s had, and they’ve all somehow ended hilariously (to everyone else.) He is awkward yet rational, but in some way we are all left rooting for Ross to find happiness.

3. Monica Geller

Monica (Courtney Cox) is the younger sister of Ross, and their childhood stories are always fun to see resurface as they’re both still defensive about some things. Monica is not only a control freak, but also a neat freak, which her friends often tease her about. Perhaps the funniest thing about Monica is her “fat” days, as seen in high school and college flashbacks. Although Monica sometimes gets on the friends’ last nerves, they wouldn’t be anywhere without her, as she is the “mom” of the group and takes the reigns on big decisions. We all need a Monica.

4. Chandler Bing

My personal favorite character, Chandler (Matthew Perry), is brilliantly sarcastic and awkward (in a less sad way than Ross.) He makes jokes in serious situations because he truly cannot handle them otherwise. I really can’t do justice to the great character Chandler is on here, so you’ll have to watch and see for yourself. 🙂

5. Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) is the, for lack of a better word, dumb girl of the group. That is a harsh way to put it as Phoebe actually has a lot of intelligent realizations, but she often puts her friends at a loss for words when she says something completely and comically crazy. She has had a rough past that she is able to explain lightheartedly, and she truly doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her, which is amazing in itself.

6. Joey Tribbiani

Joey (Matt LeBlanc) is an aspiring actor who is totally goofy all the time. He is also constantly eating and asking the whereabouts of food, and wondering if anyone is ever willing to buy him some. Joey is also obsessed with women and hits on one in practically every episode, but he makes it worth watching with his strong desires expressed so vigorously.

These six personalities are all very strong and work so well together. Throughout the series, they all fall in love and some marry while others have children. You will feel like you’re growing up with the cast of Friends, and that is why I highly recommend it.

Do you love Friends as much as I do, or have you never really been interested? As always, I would love to see what you have to say in the comments below!
